Sumario:The vernacularization -and profuse diffusion- of the knowledge related to the exact sciences in the sixteenth century triggered two revolutionary facts: on the one hand, the democratization of calculus (promoted by the triumph of the algorists and positional decimal number system of Indo Arabic origin, compared to ineffective use of the abacus) and, on the other, the creation of a suitable terminology for the expression of arithmetic and algebraic concepts, among others. Thus, from a linguistic point of view, the aim of this paper is to high- light and study the semantic relations who contract some of the technical terms that make up this emerging terminology -specifically, the terms of arithmetic and algebra- to get a better knowledge of the history of mathematical specialized vocabulary at the beginning of his expression in Spanish.
