To this end, is analyzed a corpus of 256 reading autobiographies -written by students enrolled in the teaching degrees of a Faculty of Education in central Spain- from which is extracted information regarding their knowledge of children’s and young people’s literature: the repertoire of works that they consider a success or a failure in their career, the changes experienced by their reading habits throughout their academic life and the people or circumstances that have influenced their reading. Apart from serving as a needs analysis and guiding their teaching-learning process, the data obtained are shared with the students to provoke their reflection and involve them in the selection of measures to be implemented in the classroom.[ES] Este trabajo examina la importancia de la literatura infantil y juvenil en la trayectoria lectora de dos promociones de futuros docentes, con el fin de detectar sus necesidades formativas y proponer medidas y estrategias dirigidas a compensarlas. Para ello se analiza un corpus de 256 autobiografías lectoras —escritas por estudiantes matriculados en los grados de magisterio de una Facultad de Educación del centro de España— del que se extrae información relativa a sus conocimientos sobre la literatura infantil y juvenil: el repertorio de obras que consideran un hito o un fracaso en su trayectoria, los cambios experimentados por sus hábitos lectores a lo largo de su vida académica y las personas o circunstancias que han influido en sus lecturas.
