Sumario:The manual installation and configuration of IT systems has been a tiring and time consuming process that created huge challenges to engineers during the maintenance and management process of the IT systems. The introduction of cloud computing in combination with the rise of the virtualization technology have managed to address some of these challenges. However, these virtualized cloud systems are followed by a huge collection of new tools and platforms that are difficult to learn and maintain. As a result, Ymagis organization are investigating a way to migrate their servicesdatacenter resources into a new virtualized and effective system using a good managed platform to meet the standards and serve the constantly increasing demand of the industry The literature study of this research focuses on the concepts being discussed in testing phase. The management platform used which is vmware vCloud Director which works over vSphere resources. Based on the knowledge acquired from the literature study,a reference architecture of the infrastructure and the network layer of a generic system was proposed that describes the interconnections between the different softwared components. Furthermore, in the thesis a complete explanation of the migration process in terms of provisioning resources and managing with monitoring virtual machines inside the company virtual datacenter. The validation of the design, which was performed by conducting interviews with industry experts arriving to a proof of concept related to the work done. The validation results showed that the current methodology used can improve the scalability, upgrade ability and documentation in terms of migration of infrastructure into a cloud solution.
