Sumario:[EN] In the last years the attention on the energy efficiency of historical buildings grew, as different research projects took place across Europe. The attention on combining, the need of the preservation of the buildings, their value and their characteristics, with the need of the reduction of energy consumption and the improvements of indoor comfort condition, stimulates the discussion of two points of view that are usually in contradiction, preservation and energy performance. An extensive literature review of energy efficiency and thermal comfort in historical buildings is presented and the results are surprising because a common field of work is growing while remains the need of balancing the respective exigencies. From these experience, it results clear that many questions should be answered regarding the correct assessment of the energy consumption and thermal comfort of this class of buildings, the effectiveness of the measures that could be adopted, and much more. This thesis gives a contribution to answer to these questions, developing a procedure to analyze the historic building energy performance. The procedure gives a guideline of the energy audit for the historical building considering also the experimental activities to deal with the uncertainty of the estimation of the energy balance and the thermal comfort. It offers a procedure to simulate the energy balance of building, with a dynamic model considering also an indoor thermal comfort satisfaction to increase the accuracy of the energy performance evaluation. All the process is applied to two real case studies to give to the reader a practical understanding.
