Sumario:[EN] This text discusses the role of language in the historical transmission of political ideas and its links with the narrative genesis of collective identities. The article’s object of study deals with the construction of national identities from historical narratives and analyses the structural resemblance between the historiographical accounts and the mythical accounts articulated by 19th century nationalist ideologies. The paper closes with a reflection on the particular nature of national identities and their dependence on an ad hoc reconstruction of history
