Descripción
Sumario:[EN] This article analyses the way in which Le Corbusier articulated the relationship between architecture and engineering in his 1935 text Collective Needs and Civil Engineering and in relation to the figure of the constructeur, seen as a synthesis of the architect and the engineer. Starting from his interest in mobility infrastructures railways, roads, maritime and air routes and in civil engineering works, Le Corbusier develops a reflection on technical modernity, the machinist city, and the role of collective housing. Drawing on his writings, projects, and public positions, the article traces the evolution of his thought, marked by a productive tension between plastic emotion and constructive rationality. The figure of the constructeur thus emerges as a response to fundamental collective needs, embodying both the functional demands and the poetic aspirations of modern architecture.
