Inspired by the way of understanding personal development of Leonardo Polo and Erik Erikson, among other authors, we analyse the anthropological and psychological requirements which are necessary for novelty to emerge both in each educational act and in the actors involved in it. We find that novelty emerges within each educational act when competence is placed at the service of the transformation of the world for the sake of interpersonal encounter.
