Descripción
Sumario:This article analyses an exceptional numismatic find in the medieval village of Roses (Alt Empordà). It is a hoard composed by more than 200 coins from the medieval period, specifically Melgorese coins and Montpellier obols, which were found welded together. The hypothesis presents their discovery inside a possible bag, their preparation for possible smelting, as well as archaeological and numismatic aspects of this type of coin. These coins, dated between the 13th and 14th centuries, must have been important in the monetary circulation of the medieval town of Roses. By means of parallels, the aim is to give an overview of the circulation of this type of coin in Catalonia
