Descripción
Sumario:In this paper, I propose the analysis of Del amor y otros demonios by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The protagonists’ mistakes and misunderstandings lead to feelings of love and to fear of death. Their emotional states and actions are seen as manifestations of irony and humor that have been analyzed during centuries by Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Cicero, Quintilian, Baudelaire, Bergson and Booth, among others. The clashes between life and death take place in the protagonists’ minds and lives. Their mental and real worlds are connected by the ties of irony and humor.
