| Sumario: | Based on the study of hunting treatises written in Spanish between the 14th and 16th cen- turies, this article aims to investigate the process of «rehabilitation» of medieval dog. For this purpose, this work highlights the function both practical and symbolic of the dog throughout the hunt to demonstrate its indispensable role. Afterwards, it focuses more precisely on the role performed by the animal within the hunting ritual as an instrument of legitimization of the social hierarchy. |
