To do so, the author studys the data about their relationship in order to contextualize the books in their careers. Next, the article will analyze the works’ respective patriotic attitudes, and the Jerusalén’s relationship with Lope’s theater. We will thus relate the works’ patriotism with the movement of national renewal that characterized the Spanish reaction to foreign anti-Hispanic propaganda (the Black Legend).
