| Sumario: | The area of Gran Chaco represents a big territory that occupies part of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay. This location is inhabited by nearly 40 aboriginal communities that speak at least 29 languages with different degrees of vitality. Long time invisibilised, the aboriginal communities claim today for rights and participation in the national policies of South American countries. This work pretends to briefly characterize the sociolinguistic situation of the languages spoken in the region. It also pretends to serve as reference of some of the actual researches about Chaco languages. At last, it is pretended to expose the linguistic policies of the countries that compel this territory. |
