Descripción
Sumario:In the field of vernacular architecture of Granada (Spain) and part of its province highlights the stone of Sierra Elvira using different use. This work aims to assess this limestone through physical–mechanical laboratory trials to justify its use at the current time under the regulation of the Technical Code of Spanish Building. Three types of stone, Sierra Elvira Clara, Sierra Elvira Oscuro and Sierra Elvira MX whose extraction was totally unpublished have been selected since it appeared just 20 years ago on the deposit, in a specific place. This also, as will be seen later, is different from the first two varieties, the most used historically. In addition, different surface finishes have been used, such as polishing, renewed, bush hammered, mechanized and aged sand. Specifically, compression and flexion resistance, sliding resistance, ultrasound passage speed, abrasion and frost resistance speed have been performed.
