| Sumario: | Citizen science is often understood as a way to improve science through public participation in data collection and analysis, as well as a resource to address current socio-environmental challenges. However, framing citizen science as a data provider or as a political resource is insufficient if the mechanisms of governance and management of participation are not considered. The thesis proposes an alternative framework to make sense of citizen science, namely as an example of commons practice, which involves collective decision-making and shared management of knowledge. |
