| Resumo: | In the European Union, the population is eminently urban, so that territorial planning and urban planning are fundamental to understanding and consolidating the identity of Europe, and even more so after the crisis of the social welfare system, and uncertainty of Nationalisms, BREXIT and the possible knock - on effect.In this scenario, the EU' s main objectives are the economic, social and territorial unity of all regions of the EU under the principle of subsidiarity and with key objectives such as polycentric territorial development, multilevel governance, environmental protection, sustainable development, improvement of infrastructure, revitalizing the rural and urban areas or enhancing quality employment. The achie vement of these objectives has led to a multitude of actions from the various European institutions culminating in the current European Territorial Agenda 2020, as well as the creation of European funding programs such as the European Structural and Europe an Investment Funds. For this reason, this communication is an effort to focus on the understanding and promotion of the European territorial policy, its rules, recommendations and official actions more relevant in the field of territorial planning and urb anism |
