Descripción
Sumario:Any person who holds the nationality of an EU Member State is automatically also an EU citizen. EU citizenship is additional to and does not replace nati onality. It is for each EU Member State to lay down the conditions for the acquisition and loss of nationality of that country. It is nationality of a Member State that determines the EU citizenship and entails the citizenship rights. However EU citizenshi p rights are not restricted only to the nationals of a Member State as it is stated by the case law of the European Court of Justice and the EU law. Therefore case law and laws recognized as holders of Union citizenship’s rights to people not holding the n ationality of a Member State and consequently not EU citizens.
