| Sumario: | [EN] The interventions carried out over the last few decades in Calatrava la Vieja (Carrión de Calatrava, Ciudad Real) have made it possible to obtain a significant amount of historical knowledge, rescue a wide range of archaeological materials, and consolidate, protect and enhance the value of the ruins. This in turn made it possible to incorporate the site into the Alarcos-Calatrava Archaeological Park from the time the latter was created in 2003, and has made it one of the most outstanding open to the public sites in the region. In the following pages we will review the main actions carried out in terms of research and conservation within the framework of the general plan of systematic interventions at the site, we will explain the criteria applied, and we will assess the role of archaeology in the restoration process carried out. |
