| Sumario: | [EN] This paper presents a methodology for assessing the cross disciplinary competence ‘critical thinking’ of the Civil Engineering undergraduate degree, in the subject of “Construction Methods II” of the 2nd year. An individual- and a group work based on the discussion of a construction method required for a bridge and its foundations is presented. This activity assesses both, the critical thinking competence on a rubric-based grading and the subject specific competences. A statistical-, a correlation analysis as well as multiple linear regressions of the group works and the individual exam marks were performed. Results show that nearly three-quarters of the students have achieved sufficient proficiency. However, results show a weak connection between the specific- and the cross-disciplinary competences. These evidences demonstrate that the acquisition of critical thinking competence is encouraged by the group work discussion. Nevertheless, the acquisition of specific competences requires not only a group work, but also an individual work.. |
