| Sumario: | [EN] Research on neologisms can be of assistance in updating the entries of the elements of word formation in general dictionaries, although it is necessary first to clarify the concepts of “neology” and “neologism”, in order to apply them to morphological innovations, and to demarcate, both terminologically and conceptually, the morphological units which intervene in word formation. In this article, a research methodology is proposed; we present the linguistic resources available for use in obtaining different corpora of neologistic creations and we defend the validity of contrastive analysis to formulate proposals for the renovation of lexicographical compendia, which will be dealt with according to their general characteristics and the purpose of the dictionary. The results of the research can also be of use to update information regarding the elements of word formation in grammars as well as in specific monographic studies. |
