All rights reserved.[EN] This chapter analyses the treatment of words related to America in the last three editions of the Academia’s dictionary of the 19th century in order to determine the evolution and transformations that took place in this type of words. Within the framework of the linguistic ideas of this period, of the relations between Spain and America and of the interest in American provincialisms that emerged after independence, the foundation of the American Academies and the beginning of their collaboration in lexicographical tasks are important milestones to explain the change in the treatment of this lexicological component after the twelfth edition of the dictionary, which also benefits from the lexicographical progress introduced in the dictionary after this edition (etymology and American dialect marking).[ES] Este capítulo se propone un análisis del tratamiento de las voces relacionadas con América en las tres últimas ediciones del diccionario académico del siglo xix para determinar la evolución y las transformaciones que se producen en este tipo de palabras.
