| Sumario: | Digital transformation has also reached education, making the digital capacity of schools more important than ever. However, this topic has not been thoroughly studied, especially in vocational education and training (VET). To address this gap, this explanatory sequential mixed methods study aimed to explore and understand the factors influencing the level of digital capacity in Basic VET schools. Three schools participated in the study, gathering quantitative data from SELFIE and qualitative data through interviews and focus groups of management team members, teachers and students. The findings highlight the critical role of a school's vision in digital transformation and the need for a well-defined digital strategy, supported by adequate infrastructure and comprehensive teacher training for effective digital integration. Based on these results, this study proposes recommendations to enhance digital capacity in Basic VET schools, including strategic planning, infrastructure development, teacher readiness, and continuous evaluation. Additionally, it suggests integrating the school's vision into the SELFIE tool to support more effective digital transformation strategies. |
