| Sumario: | In this report we study some techniques for the visualization of large multiresolution polygonal models, some of which do not fit into main memory. We focus our attention in batch-based techniques. The main idea is to represent the model, a given height field or a mesh with no particular topological genus, in a recursive tree-like structure; and to link patches, composed of a few set of triangles, to each of their nodes. To render the model, patches which could reside in secondary memory, are batched to the graphics processor unit (GPU) according to a simply stateless top-down traversal of the structure, guided by a view-dependent error mechanism. |
