Sumario:Audio description (AD) is nowadays an indispensable tool in terms of media accessibility (MA) for visually impaired people. The ultimate aim of this service is to ensure that the audience of an audio described product can also consume and enjoy the information and entertainment provided by these media. The main focus of this thesis is the case of the AD made for films, known as filmic AD. The basis of the conducted study arises from the idea that each film genre has specific characteristics and, for this reason, produces different sensory responses and generates different expectations in the audience. Therefore, the main hypothesis on which this study is founded states that, when dealing with the specific case of filmic AD, it could be necessary to reflect the different patterns of the film’s genre in the AD. Following this hypothesis, the main objective of this thesis is to confirm whether there are indeed differences, or even similarities, between the various elements found in the AD of the different genres. In order to achieve this goal, a corpus of 18 audio described Spanish films has been compiled, all of them available on the streaming platform Netflix and belonging to six different genres. Furthermore, 11 AD guidelines from several countries and backgrounds have been studied. As a result of this guidelines study, a final taxonomy composed of 17 different parameters has been created, so as to study and compare the various elements included in the AD of the films that are part of this research.
