Sumario:The thickness of epicartic fat can be directly measured by transthoracic echocardiography. Epicartic fat has recently been associated with the onset of atrial fibrillation (AF). In this work we will analyze the relationship between the thickness of epicartic fat, the number of necessary downloads during the electrical cardioversion (CVE), the type of treatment of the control of the FA and the relapse in FA. The longitudinal observational study methodology describing the population of the FA consultation programmed by CVE (n = 42). The design is based on a transversal analysis of the patients to which CVE was performed and its subsequent follow-up of the procedure and every 4 months until the end of the year of follow-up. As a conclusion, the measure of the thickness of epicartic fat by means of transthoracic echocardiography can help determine the type of treatments that patients with AF may require and determine their evolution
