Descrição
Resumo:We present a quantitative analysis with a non-experimental research design of the initial teacher training in mathematics of the degrees of Elementary School of all Spanish universities in the academic year 2019-2020. The data have been collected from the syllabus of every educational institution obtaining the number and duration of compulsory and optional courses, the type of course attending to their mathematical, didactic of mixed contents according to the domains of the Mathematics Teacher’s Specialised Knowledge model (MTSK), and the year where the course is placed in the syllabus, differentiating between private and public institutions. Data are confronted with the National Council on Teacher Quality standards for the mathematics preparation of elementary teachers. The subsequent analysis shows the non-existence of a consensus for a minimal number of credits of mathematics and or didactics of mathematics in teacher training, shows the heterogeneity of the system and exhibits the limited offer of speciality programs in mathematics and related areas within the system. Differences between public and private institutions are also described.
