Descripción
Sumario:The imitation of coinage in the Late Imperial Roman period is a well-known phenomenon, but it still needs to be studied in order to clarify many aspects of its real impact. This text discusses the very nature of imitative coinage, compiling the theories proposed in this respect. It goes on to present, through archaeological evidence, examples of types of imitation coinage documented in the territorium gerundensis. It also proposes chronologies for these typologies based on the archaeological evidence and explains the possible economic implications that imitative coinage may have had in this historical period
