Resumo:The Buffon work's were published in Barcelona for the first time between 1832-1836 and it contained 59 volumes and 310 prints. The editor and translator was Antoni Bergnes de las Casas, professor of Greek at the Universitat de Barcelona, liberal and Quaker. Bergnes made an important contribution as a divulgator of science in Catalonia and he had a relevant influence in Spain and other Spanish countries during the xix century. The present edition contains several new contributions after the Buffon death's, including the Lamarck's theory of evolution. Bergnes also published some of this works in the La Abeja, a periodical publication edited by himself. Interestingly, Bergnes also published the translation of the Lamarck's Histoire naurelle des végétaux in La Abeja.
