| Sumario: | In this article, we establish a dialogue between the artist’s book Unheimlich: Brazilian popular imagination (2006) and the naturalist, mathematician and French writer Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon’s work Histoire naturelle, générale et particulière, avec la description du Cabinet du Roy (1749). Seeking to approach art and science, it proposes a dialogue between Corrêa’s Ondina, and Buffon’s Child monstrous by the transposition of the viscera, noting that, while art appropriates and subverts images generated from scientific observation, science uses artistic procedures for different modes to register reality. |
