Descripción
Sumario:This thesis identifies social, cultural and media transformations that, as a result of environmental conflict, have taken place in the Terres de l'Ebre in the period 2000-2015. Through mediatization, the analysis detects mediatized fields, moments and objects -as a result of these changes-, in the macro, meso and micro level in two areas: communication (local) and law (global). The Biosphere Reserve of Terres de l'Ebre illustrates the switch from a negative discourse reflecting victimization and resignation to a purposeful discourse reflecting action, enthusiasm and hope that points to something more than just agreeing to disagree. Although the confirmation of the hypothesis does not mean that the differences between the players in dispute have been resolved, there are new points to the agreement. The Biosphere Reserve of Terres de l'Ebre is an uncertain opportunity. It is a valid tool for implementing sustainability policies and in this sense it may be useful to appease social and economic aspects of the conflict at a local level and at short and medium term. Instead, from a culture of rights' point of view, the reserve does not seem to be useful to resolve the environmental conflict, given that it reproduces the ecological modernization model that capitalism imposes globally.
