Resumo:In an increasingly globalised and competitive world, companies in the production sector are forced to make quantitative leaps in terms of production in order to be able to meet the growing demand. At the same time, coinciding with a critical climatic context in which the focus is on responsible production focused on minimising the impact on the environment. This thesis studies automation as the main driving force of industry towards the optimisation of production processes, reviewing its historical trajectory and at the same time looking to the future. At the same time, it also focuses on inverse logistics, which is the main protagonist in the advance of the productive fabric towards sustainable production in order to be able to maintain production growth while at the same time being environmentally responsible. All of this is highlighted in this work through the simulation of various models of production processes that incorporate these techniques, highlighting the benefits that they bring for both companies and the environment.
