Recently, important steps have been taken with the establishment of the new institutional instrument of cooperation and the actualization of programs and projects. This article analyzes the development of the bilateral cultural cooperation and identifyes the main successes and weaknesses of this relationship.La relación entre la Unión Europea (UE) y China se ha desarrollado gradualmente desde 1975 hasta convertirse en una relación mutuamente interdependiente. China es el segundo socio comercial de la UE, y la UE es el mayor socio comercial de China. Esta relación se ha caracterizado por centrarse principalmente en la cooperación económica, ocupando un lugar secundario otros ámbitos importantes como las relaciones culturales. La UE y China han logrado importantes avances con el establecimiento de nuevos instrumentos institucionales de cooperación y la actualización de programas y proyectos ya existentes.
