Descrição
Resumo:[EN]The Gonzaga couple were well known for their patronage. Isabella of Capua, wife of Ferrante Gonzaga, was the subject of dedications of madrigals and poems celebrating her beauty and her moral virtues, adulations written by those in search of patrons and protectors. In this lecture, we will explore the type of texts that were dedicated or that refer to her. Several of these are poems belonging to a genre of production in the Neapolitan literature in the 16th century. Sometimes referred to as stereotypical praise, their value is mainly historical thanks to the biographical information they provide.
