Descripción
Sumario:This article presents preliminary results from a research on solving word problems linked to the concepts of greatest common divisor (g.c.d.) and least common multiple (l.c.m.). The research aims to assess the competence of students in the resolution of such problems and to analyse the influence in the process of resolution of the presence of key words in the statement when deciding between the g.c.d. and the l.c.m. I.e., we want to check if students include notions of multiple and divider in the problem resolution or if, on the contrary, they are guided by the key words of the statement to make their choice between g.c.d. or the l.c.m. We present preliminary quantitative results from a stage og the study in which preservice elementary teachers took part.
