What philosophical modernity calls subjectivity and the notions associated with it (autonomy, objective knowledge, self-consciousness, freedom, moral will, etc.) cannot be thought of without taking into account the social relations that produce it, however much one may differentiate between genesis and validity. Th. W. Adorno is one of the thinkers who has delved most deeply into the significance of the experience of socially produced suffering in order to clarify the relation between the individual and society and to demystify the illusions of modern constitutive subjectivity. His work relates the question of truth, the critique of social domination, the questioning of morality and the formulation of a new ethical imperative, even the very possibility of art, to the experience of suffering. This contribution develops an analysis of the relation-ship between suffering, subjectivity and society with the help of Th. W. Ador-no’s contributions.[ES] La autonomía es posiblemente el concepto que mejor define la cultura moderna. El sujeto autónomo aparece como el logro y el proyecto siempre inacabado de la modernidad. Lo que la modernidad filosófica llama subjetividad y las nociones asociadas a ella (autonomía, conocimiento objetivo, autoconciencia, libertad, voluntad moral, etc.) no pueden pensarse sin tener en cuenta las relaciones socia-les que la producen, por mucho que se diferencie entre génesis y validez. Th. W. Adorno es uno de los pensadores que más ha profundizado en el significado de la experiencia del sufrimiento socialmente producido para aclarar la relación entre el individuo y la sociedad y desmitificar las ilusiones de la subjetividad constitutiva moderna. Su obra relaciona la cuestión de la verdad, la crítica de la dominación social, el cuestionamiento de la moral y la formulación de un nuevo imperativo ético, incluso la posibilidad misma del arte, con la experiencia del sufrimiento. Este artículo desarrolla un análisis de la relación entre el sufrimiento, la subjetividad y la sociedad con la ayuda de las aportaciones de Th. W.
