In this framework, the study seeks to determine, through the examination of a manually compiled corpus, the extent to which these configurations exhibit discourse-syntactic equivalence. To this end, particular attention is given to the characterisation of the introductory proforms embedded in each structure —specifically, the English expletive there and the Spanish clitic se—, alongside an evaluation of their potential expletive status and the telic orientation of their associated predicates. In effect, the findings of this work provide compelling evidence for the existence of convergent formal patterns between them, most notably in the analysis of the Spanish clitic as an argumental expletive element that is formally analogous to its English counterpart. The study, therefore, advances a novel contribution to the field of contrastive Theoretical Linguistics, underscoring the efficacy of empirical cross-linguistic analysis in furnishing a more nuanced understanding of expletive marking mechanisms across structurally divergent languages.. El presente trabajo queda dedicado al análisis comparativo de las propiedades morfológicas, sintácticas y discursivas acuñadas a la construcción pasiva expletiva en lengua inglesa y a la estructura pasiva con se en español —ambas alejadas del patrón oracional básico al que tales sistemas gramaticales se adhieren (i.e., SVO). En tal marco, se pretende, a través del examen exhaustivo de las diversas muestras lingüísticas contenidas en un corpus de trabajo de elaboración personal, constatar la analogía discursivo-funcional que subyace a tales construcciones. Así, el análisis se orienta hacia la caracterización formal de las proformas introductorias en éstas insertas —a saber, el expletivo inglés there y el clítico español se; su estatus expletivo, y la orientación télica inherente a su predicado. En efecto, los resultados obtenidos permiten sostener la existencia de patrones funcionales convergentes, particularmente en lo que respecta a la caracterización del clítico español como unidad argumental expletiva, puramente análoga a la proforma en inglés.
