| Sumario: | [EN] No studies in the scientific literature have analyzed the possible variations in prolactin and its receptor in the hippocampus during aging. It is unknown whether neurodegeneration and memory loss that occur during late age are accompanied by significant variations in prolactin hippocampal levels. Therefore, we analyzed whether prolactin changes during different stages of life. To determine this, we designed an experimental study in which we analyzed the expression and location of prolactin and its receptor in the rat hippocampus: Ammon’s horn and Dentate Gyrus. Our hypothesis is that there is sexual dimorphism, and that this expression could be related to puberty and the fertile ages of the animals. The main objective of this thesis was to establish the ground knowledge of rat hippocampal prolactin expression during aging. |
