Summary:[EN] The present work focuses on the application of metaheuristic techniques, specifically a genetic algorithm, for the optimization of the duration of the cycles of the traffic lights, for topologies of real environments of the cities. There is a fitness function based on the waiting times of the vehicles, which together with the help of the evaluation through a microtraffic simulator, minimizes fuel consumption, travel time, waiting times and emission of CO2.
