Descripción
Sumario:[EN] The evolution of society requires a significant number of professionals with technical training, which encourages technological universities to develop programs to awaken vocations. This paper presents a workshop developed at the Universitat Politècnica de València with the aim of bringing civil and structural engineering closer to secondary school students so that they see these disciplines as something attractive and creative. For this purpose, a competition in which teams of students build small-scale bridges with a limited amount of spaghetti and load them to failure, with the winner being the team whose bridge can withstand the highest load with the least amount of spaghetti, is organised. The paper provides the details of the experience and qualitative evidence of its success. The experience is cheap and simple to conduct, so it can be easily extrapolated to other educational environments.
