Sumario:[EN] The pioneering work in the Hispanic musicological field, particularly in the field of musical thought, by Professor José Vicente González-Valle (*1935; †2019), has left an indelible mark, tracing some of the main lines followed by the discipline today. Terms such as Hispanic musical theory, Renaissance and Baroque Spanish polyphony, liturgical song or Hispanic keyboard music, would not make sense today without his remarkable contribution to the academic, scientific and didactic field. From his positions as a teacher (Professor of Musicology) at the Conservatory of Music of Zaragoza and as a researcher of the CSIC in Barcelona (the former Instituto Español de Musicología, later Department of Musicology, IMF, Spanish National Research Council), and thank you to his relentless teaching, he left pupils and teachers distributed throughout the country. These, continue his laborious and exemplary model in favour of music, from a thorough and comprehensive study at the same time (close to ‘the essence’ of their production), ranging from his models Palestrina, Monteverdi, Schütz, Bach or Viennese classics, to Cabezón, Victoria, Correa, the Maestro Spagnoletto, Ramón Ferreñac or Domenico Scarlatti. A few months after his disappearance, remember and celebrate the magnificent testimony left by this ‘Great’ of the Spanish musical thought.
