| Sumario: | This text is a reaply to the invitation to reflect on the production process of my doctoral thesis dedicated to the historical and sociological analysis of the work and life of cigarette-makers in Madrid between 1888 and 1927. My first endeavour is to reflect on what the experience of the thesis meant in my research training. With this intention, I review some aspects of the research process, the theoretical and methodological challenges I had to face in order to construct and understand the complex historical and sociological reality of the Cigarreras. With this reflective practice, I want to share those questions that have accompanied us on the long road we have travelled as directed researchers and that it is now our turn to lead. Particularly at the crossroads of the current academic system where the situation of the initial training of research staff and the work of supervising doctoral theses has changed considerably. Not always for better. |
