Sumario:We present some remarks on the morphological characterization and the distribution areas of Pedicularis pyrenaica and P. mixta, both endemic to the Pyrenean and Cantabrian ranges. It should be noted that an inappropriate appreciation of some critical traits, such as corolla color or inflorescence morphology, may have caused confusion among the two species. Moreover, a new variety is described (P. pyrenaica var. pilifera) to designate populations of P. pyrenaica with some morphological and ecological features usually associated with P. mixta (hairy calyx and bracts; preference for hydromorphic soils).
