Relationship between size, body weights and fin weight of the blue shark (Prionace glauca) caught as bycatch in the spanish surface longline fishery in the Indian Ocean

| Sumario: | [EN] A total of 164 observations of the standard size, dressed weight, skinned dressed weight and fin weight of the blue shark (Prionace glauca) were recorded on board a Spanish surface longline vessel targeting swordfish (Xiphias gladius) in the Indian Ocean. The conversion factors between size and the different types of dressed weights were calculated by means of linear and non-linear regressions. The mean ratios between fin weight and dressed body weight (with and without skin) were 15.97% and 19.2%, respectively. |
