The larval size distribution does not seem to have any relationship with coastal distance or depth[FR] Les auteurs ont étudié la répartition des larves de Mullus barbatus récoltées sur la côte catalane, au cours de deux missions réalisées au mois de juillet 1983 et juin 1985. Les larves de cette espèce sont typiquement hyponeustoniques dès les premières étapes de leur développement. Les aires principales de ponte se localisent dans les zones les plus productives influencées par des apports d'eaux continentales. L'aire de répartition des larves devient plus étendue au fur et à mesure que la période de ponte avance.
