Studies estimate over 40% of the world's population has been infected. The pandemic has disproportionately affected low-income countries and vulnerable groups. A Special Issue in Epidemiologia focused on the epidemiology of COVID-19, examining high-risk groups, including long-term care home residents and staff, healthcare workers, and patients with chronic mental illness. Findings highlighted factors influencing COVID-19 incidence and mortality, such as facility conditions and staff ratios. Despite vaccination efforts reducing the severity of infections, transmission remains high, and ongoing research is crucial to manage new variants and future pandemics.MDPICiencias de la SaludOsasun Zientziak2023info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://hdl.handle.net/2454/51623reponame:Academica-e.
