El objetivo está dirigido a conocer los avances en algunos de los campos ya explorados y abarcar otros nuevos, como los bienes que se intercambiaban y las rutas y caminos por donde se llevaba a cabo el intercambio de mercancías, personas y tradiciones culturales. Todo ello ha permitió albergar contenidos diversos y fijar nuestra atención en intentar entender los diferentes tipos de viajes que se identifican en Mesoamérica: viajes comerciales, así como otros tipos de viajes que seguramente han sido discutidos antes desde otras perspectivas, pero en este caso toman importancia por ser vistos desde la motivación del viaje, como sucede con las mujeres que se trasladan y viajan decenas o centenares de kilómetros para contraer matrimonio; los nobles que se desplazaron a otras cortes para formarse en los saberes literarios, astronómicos, escultóricos, etc.; los altos dignatarios que se movían a otras ciudades para practicar el juego de pelota o simplemente a presenciar rituales.
