Sumario:The development of pre-reading in children during their early childhood is important to stimulate the development of different areas that later allow learning, but nevertheless nowadays the main problem stems from the lack of interest in infants to read, demonstrating that this process is born from the mechanics and school routine which limits the creation of good reading habits, where in Ecuador it is estimated that 56.8% do not have reading habits including the infant population. Therefore, the aim of this research was to analyze the use of stories with pictograms during the development of prereading in children from 4 to 6 years old, for which a descriptive research has been contemplated, under a field design, with a quantitative approach, considering children from 4 to 6 years old as the study population, where a sample of 30 participants was taken, to whom the Basic Functions Test, designed by Olga Berdicewski and N. Milicic in the adapted version of the test, was applied. Milicic in the version adapted by Jorge Ibujés Portilla for the Ministry of Education of Ecuador. These were applied online, and then analyzed in the SPSS statistical program, with a descriptive stadistics and inferential statistical analysis of 1-way ANOVA for related samples. The results indicate the efficiency of the use of pictograms with stories to motivate and generate interest in learning to read, as well as favoring the development of areas that are conducive to learning.
