Sumario:The general objective of the present study is to determine the incidence of self-cutting behaviors in the academic performance in eighth and ninth graders of basic education. From the research carried out by the author, it is obtained that students who present this behavior have seen their academic performance affected by demonstrating problems with concentration, paying attention or performing in class, lack of interest in both academic and life projects. Apart from this, their personal, family, and social situation have a direct impact on learning. Emotional management, decision-making, and the non-verbalization of what happens in their daily lives are channeled through inappropriate behaviors such as the practice of cutting when a problem, frustration, fear, or dread arise. That is why, it is necessary to investigate what are the causes or factors that affect teenagers, what makes them adopt self-cutting behavior. For this study, mixed-method research was used to inquire about the causes of self-injurious behavior and its impact on academic performance, the relationship of both variables was analyzed.........
