Descripción
Sumario:This article analyses the scope of citizen participation in the new constitutional project in Ecuador. This work draws comparisons between the 2008 project of constitution and the 1998 Constitution within the parameters of a discussion about political regime crisis. It argues that the 2008 project upholds and builds upon the promises of participation included in the 1998 Constitution. The author questions the relationship between civil society, political regimes and the State in a context of state-strengthening, weak social actors and a government indifferent to participation.
