Sumario:This research refers to a problem that occurs in the Intercultural Bilingual Community Educational Unit Pueblo Maca Grande, where there is a poor academic performance of students related to the educational level of their parents. The general objective proposed was to strengthen the students' academic performance of the upper basic sub-level; in this project, a mixed approach methodology was used because both qualitative and quantitative data were collected. The synthetic-analytical method was used to develop the conceptual part, and the inductive-deductive method was used to analyze the data collected. Through this methodology, it was possible to diagnose the existing weaknesses in the parents' educational level and their incidence on the students' academic performance. In order to achieve the general objective, a guide directed to parents and teachers was elaborated. It will help to improve this educational process, focusing on the incidence of the family in the affective and emotional aspects of the students, where parents realize the role that they must fulfill within the institution and with their children, as well as encouraging teachers to involve ancestral knowledge and strategies in which the help required from parents is not in the cognitive area but the emotional area. Four specialists validated the proposal. It was concluded that the application of the family accompaniment guide could improve students' academic performance, that parents can create study habits in their children and provide support to develop educational activities.
