Descripción
Sumario:ABSTRACT: The present work was elaborated under the line of research Engineering, Industry and Construction and its objective was to evaluate the use of personal protection equipment of the workers who execute the manufacturing processes of precast concrete "Adoquines" in the Las Palmas factory in the city of Riobamba, for the fulfillment of this objective began with the application of a survey to all the personnel of the factory, This was done by applying qualitative methodologies such as the General Evaluation Method of Occupational Risks proposed by insst, from which the categorization of risks was obtained, passing to a quantitative evaluation of risks categorized as moderate, important and intolerable: moderate, important and intolerable. Within the quantitative methodologies, the following were applied: William T. Fine's Mathematical Risk Assessment Method, the Noise Exposure Dose Method, the REBA Method and the Dortmund Method. The results obtained from the evaluations were used to prepare a procedure called Personal Protective Equipment Management in which actions were established for the stages of selection, purchase, reception and delivery, use, maintenance and replacement of PPE. The study population was established by means of a non-probabilistic intentional sample because the paving stone factory is made up of 6 workers distributed in three work stations. The instruments and techniques used were observation, surveys, reading instruments to collect all the necessary information and evaluation methods applied. The results showed a significant association between the level of physical risk and the use of personal protective equipment, so it is necessary to raise awareness of the use and provision of PPE, which will help to protect the health of workers. There was no significant association between the other risks and the use of PPE.
